Surgeon General Lies ~ Neil Boortz ~ Bill Godshall Update ~ Think Of The Children™ ~ There is no gateway ~ Brian Fojtik ~ Chaos ~ Cole-Bishop HR1136 ~ Nicotine Addiction

Dr. Michael Siegel:

Lies and misinformation are the core of regulations. We’re not loud enough.

“There is no tobacco in electronic cigarettes. Using e-cigarettes, even if they contain nicotine, is not a form of tobacco use. You are not using tobacco if you vape because the e-liquids do not contain tobacco.”

Surgeon General Continues to Lie about Tobacco in E-Cigarettes

Neil Boortz

The “Talkmaster” Neal Boortz (was once a fan) has no luck with seeing a puppy blown up, so, he instead, wants to watch e-cigarettes blow up. At least that’s what I got out of this idiotic tweet.

It is all how you word things, “talkmaster”.

Think Of The Children™”

My thoughts? Time and time again, special interest groups around the world use and exploit children.

It is free child labor after all.

Example:

Youth thought of all this.png

There is no gateway

If “children” are *already smoking, they’re *smokers regardless of age.

Two things focused on in the battle to regulate, restrict, tax and ban are “nicotine” addiction and still unsubstantiated gateways to children.

New peer-reviewed research published in Drugs Education Prevention and Policy shows that e-cigarettes are not increasing the likelihood of tobacco consumption and may in fact be contributing to negative perceptions about smoking among young people.

Young people do not associate e-cigarettes with increased likelihood of smoking

Via Brian Fojtik

It’s not always about vaping, nicotine or children. In this instance, it is about failing to adhere to their own rules.

The Proposed Tobacco Product Standard for NNN Level in Smokeless Tobacco Should Be Withdrawn

Laws are being manufactured to satisfy everything but public health concerns. More on gateways and assertions by a belief system controlled by special interest groups and politicians within.

Nicotine Addiction

owl.jpg

I want to, in the words of my late Father, “Know For A Fact“.

The claim of nicotine addiction is the basis for “regulations, restrictions, taxes and bans“.

They don’t need to prove me wrong, they need to prove themselves right.

Early next week, Tomorrow, I have released

Nicotine Addiction: A 30-Day Public Health Challenge“.

It includes a GoFundMe for ecigarette-research.org for further research by Dr. Farsalinos and his colleagues.

It also includes an incentive for “Public Health” to prove me wrong.

Vaping In The News – March 5th – 11th, 2017

Cole-Bishop ~ Blog Fog ~ Dr Farsalinos ~ The Impact Of A Federal Cigarette Minimum Pack Price Policy ~ Simple Simon ~ Second Hand ~ Prohibition or Harm Reduction ~ HR1136 ~ Tobacco Associates hold 70th annual meeting in Wilson ~ Youth ~ Gary Wood ~ Tweet Of The Week ~ Vapers Tongue

Government, health organizations and special interest groups are counting on you to not pay attention. That’s the plan.

Don’t forget to set your clocks forward tomorrow. We get an hour less this week to fight the bastards.

Today the vapor industry joined together in support of Cole-Bishop.

  • Tony Abboud, Executive Director, Vapor Technology Association
  • Pamela Gorman, Executive Director, Smoke Free Alternatives Trade Association
  • Alex Clark, Executive Director, Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association
  • Gregory Conley, President, American Vaping Association

The Blog Fog Has Lifted

In what may be the longest “rapid response” ever, there are now responses:

Other responses

All were insightful, this one caught my eye from Clive Bates.

TWO from Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos:

First:

Prevalence and correlates of current daily use of electronic cigarettes in the European Union: analysis of the 2014 Eurobarometer survey

Second:

Irresponsible marketing by parts of the e-cigarette industry requires immediate measures

Because Price-Reducing Strategies Are There:

I love the “conclusion”. They don’t like alternatives. They don’t like Snus. They don’t like e-cigarettes. They don’t like roll-your-own…..but they certainly like a “Federal Minimum Pack Price “idea”… we need a pay raise.

keepsmokingweneedthemoney2.png

“Conclusion: A federal minimum price policy has the potential to greatly benefit tobacco control and public health by uniformly increasing the price of cigarettes and by eliminating many price-reducing strategies currently available to both sellers and consumers.”

Remember, e-cigarettes are now “deemed” tobacco in the United States:

Simple Simon

I absolutely love Dick Puddlecoat. You should as well. Simon, not so much. If he’d only use the mass between his ears…

The ‘Rigour’ Of Simple Simon

 2nd hand

Because who doesn’t like the idea of anything second-hand?

“EC use releases negligible levels of nicotine into ambient air with no identified health risks to bystanders”

What does e-cigarette vapor contain? Is it harmless to bystanders?

A Survey (on Twitter) for my friends in Australia:

Cole-Bishop: #HR1136

Cole-Bishop, one of the more important things in the industry.

“The e-cigarette industry is on the edge of a cliff, with Food and Drug Administration rules threatening to wipe out 10,000 small businesses and remove 99 percent of vapor products from the market in just 18 months’ time.”

A modest reform could mean life or death for the vaping industry

Robert Innes.

I adore Mr. Innes:

A very high percentage of the population kept on smoking which concerned the ones who wanted them to stop, so the ones who wanted smokers to stop invented Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT) which gave the smokers nicotine which was not addictive, and did not provide any fun – that was good.

Prohibition or Harm Reduction

I almost couldn’t believe my eyes…

Not often do I do a double-take, but this one was refreshing to see.

gif eyes.gif

“we believe that patients have the right to practical, empirical, and accessible information and facts. We are hoping that e-cigarettes will be treated by the New York DOH with the same amount of empirical scrutiny and moral impartiality as these other means of harm reduction.”

Concerned healthcare providers respond to New York Department of Health Commissioner’s remarks on e-cigarettes

Tobacco Associates hold 70th annual meeting in Wilson

Here’s an interesting insight to the tobacco market and its own view on the upcoming years, and they don’t seem too concerned.

“Brown said the jury is still out on the e-cigarette industry’s impact on the U.S. combustibles market”

Strong profits predicted for tobacco growers

Youth:

I’ve often thought we should just ban children. Ankle-biting rugrats seem to have made some sense in this!

Avoiding or reducing the harm of tobacco cigarettes is the top reason youth vape, according to data from a survey by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and analyzed by PinneyAssociates.

Suicide or Vaping? – You Decide

Now I know drug companies have to list ‘possible’ side effects, however, when you see just what these so called ‘safe’ stop smoking drugs are capable of doing to the user – you’ll ask yourself just why they’re ‘approved’ and vaping is not.

Professionals Just “Don’t Know Enough” About E-cigarettes

You’ve entered the “I’m tired of your bullshit” zone.

doctors4

The word “Bullshit” is commonly used to describe statements made by people more concerned with the response of the audience than in truth and accuracy… that’s found here.

Sound familiar?

To be clear:

Are you an expert?

expert.JPG

The degree you’ve worked so hard to attain needs to be used properly, not at your discretion. I know you are proud of your accomplishments and contributions to society for your vast knowledge.

I know you are the “go to” person in your prestigious department or institution of higher learning. I know you know everything and have an “I love me” wall to prove it.

I have been known to pass out extra points if your degree(s) hang higher on the wall than photos of your family. I offer a double bonus if the only photo(s) in your office are of you.

You’ve entered the “I’m tired of your bullshit” zone.

Breathe snowflake, breathe.

gif-stunned

I know many of you are truth-a-phobic. Let’s be honest, you’re not used to your integrity being questioned or spoken to in this manner.  I want to earn your respect.

If you recognize yourself in the above description and want to skip the formalities, I’ve covered the true experts here:

Is Public Health challenged about ecigs?

Still with me?

welcome.JPG

I’ll presume for time and space that you already know what combustible tobacco “is”. I’ll also presume you “know” what e-cigarettes ~are~.

Let’s move on.

Use that brain for something other than a hat rack. I know, you think nicotine is addictive. That, my dear expert is called “Proof by assertion“.

You can’t fathom some uneducated consumer can out-research you?

Think again.

The link (PDF) below covers all the important stuff you don’t know and more.

Nicotine. Children. Chemicals. Battery Safety. Research. Resources. Less harm.

Go ahead, click it:

When tobacco use decreases, less smoking occurs.

You know you want to. I’ll wait.

Let’s Talk About You

eyes

Pride and social status does impede one’s sense of intelligence. One of the hardest things to do is ask for help. Another is for one to admit they are wrong.

E-cigarettes. Think less harm. No combustion. Not smoking.

The pretentious attitude concerns me from those who’s job it is to know better. I know you know better. You know you know better.  The amateurish display of stupidity about e-cigarettes shall now come to a close.

If you don’t know enough, why are you babbling? I know, you’re a snowflake and feel too important to be chastised for your own stupidity.

For you who are professionals, this is a need to know basis. I’m trying to help.

Claiming expert status without being an expert makes you an idiot. Study all you can about that tweet or article you’re destined to write. Stop depending on your daily dose of information from your peers or media.

Pro-Tip: Stop surfing the internet in a drunken stupor to “find” information about e-cigarettes. When you google, the top five results are not always the correct results.

The words “we need more studies”, and we “don’t know enough” are unacceptable.

Become an expert, have some nerve, stick with that choice. People will continue to smoke based upon your opinion, make it count. Prepare for your big interview.

Millions of people have switched from smoking to e-cigarettes. Millions more are afraid to try, and instead rely on information from “reputable” sources.

Swallow your pride or display it proudly

pride.JPG

Please, put your big researcher panties on.

I’m trying to keep you from looking like an imbecile. (They do exist.) Don’t say you “don’t know enough” any longer.

I know you like data, so for reference, here are two examples of high profile tobacco control imbeciles here and here. (References for tobacco control and public health are available upon request).

Wibble Words & Phrases

If you insist on continuing your train wreck down the track, please  -use phrases like:

“I’m too lazy to do research”

“I’m afraid of what my peers will say if I speak out”

“But the CDC, FDA (or pick a lying organization) say”

Or, as seen below, wibble words will also suffice.

You are a professional, act like one.

research4

SEEK knowledge. Talk with other professionals.

Engage with consumers. LINKS are all over this blog.

Stop saying you “don’t know enough”.  Here’s a quick expert exercise:

Say “I don’t know enough” out loud to yourself.

Are you trying to impress or coerce. (That isn’t a question).

Think about how uneducated you sound.

Above all, stop trying to bullshit people.

Advocacy

I first met Jennifer Berger-Coleman online when I saw her post this:

I asked her permission to use that graphic and did so here. (Thank you again, Jennifer!)

I was delighted to see this:

CASAA is pleased to announce some welcome additions to our leadership team.

Jennifer Berger-Coleman was elected to CASAA’s Board of Directors. While new to the Board, Jennifer is certainly not new to advocacy. In addition to working on tobacco harm reduction advocacy in California, Jennifer has a long history of advocacy involving civil rights and health care issues. Her skills as an outreach coordinator will be employed to help CASAA reach populations and communities where smoking rates remain disproportionately high.

Congratulations, Jennifer!

New additions to CASAA’s Leadership Team!

Please Stand By

It seems the fog still hangs over the Tobacco Control BMJ and its authors of “Blog Fog” after more than ten days.

In their feeble attempt to assert themselves of promoting open and rapid debate to the little people (in the name of advancing science, of course), technical difficulties, password issues and a comedy of errors have one author now “mortified due to different but linked systems. Uh huh.

Christopher Snowden gives some reassurance for her mortification.

Tweet Of The Week

The tweet of the week goes to Agent Ania in reference to the above “Blog Fog”.

Proactive

Here’s an awesome and dignified example of the vaping community reacting proactively.

This comes from Alycia Singleton via Gregory Conley of the American Vaping Association.

“The son of a vape shop owner (edit: actually a manager) was apparently told to write an assignment listing five reasons why vaping should be banned.

Instead, he submitted 240 pages of scientific information and stories from adults who found them helpful in quitting.

He got a F and his mom was told to take it up with the school board.”

AVA is going to give this young man a $1,000 college scholarship.

For reference, 20 Million dollars of pie was consumed in 2013 to “help regulate tobacco products” that surely included the deeming regulations.

Speaking of idiots, Simon Chapman thinks, and that should be regulated.

(Bold is my emphasis)

“We expect those who know most about health problems to have views about what should be done to solve them and the courage to put these forward, even if they imply criticism of governments or powerful interest groups.”

“Trump’s recent gagging of all government environmental agency staff is surely the start of a process that will spread to government funded universities in the USA.”

Simon Chapman thinks researchers have a “duty” to try and influence policy.

In other news …..

Senator Durbin is still babbling incessantly, insisting “we need strong regulations of e-cigarettes.”

Evidently he didn’t get the memo on National Tobacco Day.

He was last seen sticking his paws in the 👉 candy desk at the senate.

Divine Intervention: A Deal With The Devil

devil

Place your trust in public health officials. They are the clergy, you are the congregation.

Only they know the way to help you stop smoking. Do it their way and no one gets hurt. This is nothing less than helping smokers quit. It’s what they do.

They have resources and unlimited educations with tenure (and offerings in the plate) to find the best information to help you.

They know what is good for them you. They would never, ever steer you wrong. There’s no doubt in their minds they want the best for you for their cause. Nothing but the best is good enough for you, sinner.

Only they, with their infinite wisdom, provide divine intervention.

How dare you think for yourself. Get your hymnal, heathen, stop whispering during the service. There is no room for non-believers. Please be thoughtful and have your soul ready for processing.

If you fail, it is your fault, sinner. Try again, get down on your knees. Beg for mercy. You didn’t mean it. Lead yourself not into the forbidden smoking area den of inequity.

Get back up off your knees. Try again. Beg their forgiveness. They have apps. Methods. Do it their way. Sinner. Have faith. Raise your ashtrays high above your heads. You must take the solemn vows of tobacco control.

Stop impugning their holy efforts and do not question them when they withhold information.

Their ethics are pure.

Going To The Chapel

They look like good people and organizations.

tobacco control money.JPG

They’re nicely dressed. Big words. Fancy initials before and after their names. Nice clean collars, well fed, well bred and full of sermons.

That’s your Sunday best? That’s what you wore to church the cult meeting?

Ugh, Here’s your hymnal. Find a pew, pay attention and be quiet. Stop chewing your gum.

Authority and righteousness is not to be challenged.

Drink the blood kool-aid

communion

You can keep sinning, they get your sin tax. Try to stop smoking. Go ahead I dare you, they get repeat customers quitting their way.

You just can’t resist temptation, can you? They see you clutching your lighter, you evil sinner. Try as you may to repent, you don’t have it in you. Didn’t you slap the blood patch on your arm as a badge of honor or taste the snake oil gum as it was offered to you?

You must truly believe. You must have faith. Without it, These tools are ineffective and have no real value (to you). Without family and support with counseling and a quit plan (along with an all hail tobacco control) these methods will fail you at an average of 93%.

Don’t lose hope, they’re going to save you, sinner, with their Divine intervention.

If you continue smoking despite the advice from the deacons of tobacco control, it’s a good deal for the devil.

Stop disappointing them. There are other methods that will bring you  – yes, redemption, like

Nausea, Depression, Suicidal thoughts and more…Too bad for you, but – they are, after all, collecting souls.

Feel better yet?

No Sleeping During The Sermon

They are set and ready, designed to enlighten you. Stay alert during the service. What do you know, you’re a sinner. Practice what they preach. They want your undivided attention and commitment to them and their word. Listen carefully!

Here’s one preaching to the choir from the Sistine Chapel pulpit:

00

Baptism bapt.jpg

They, after all, are the experts. You haven’t brushed up on the tobacco control bible, have you? They keep praying and preaching about nicotine, but nicotine is not addictive.

To further their agenda (and the greater good), they have lied about nicotine for years.

nicotine-wow

Wash away those sins. Aren’t you looking for redemption?

Remember

Not all nicotine is the same, you immoral heathen.

The holy water of tobacco control has blessed the magical pharmaceutical nicotine, and then there is nicotine after 2007.

Shaving horns

This is a startling insight to the teachings of the fringe of the gospel according to Tobacco Control:

Via Michael Siegel (bold & underlining is my emphasis):

Importantly, only one perspective on this issue was presented to us in the trainings. There was no room for disagreement or challenge. These ideas were presented as scientific facts, not subject to debate. In fact, if we were to challenge the ideas, the implication was that we – ourselves – might be accused of working for Big Tobacco or receiving secret payoffs.

The most prominent and dogmatic idea presented to us was that “The debate is over.” There is no room for questioning of the link between secondhand smoke and chronic disease. Anyone who challenges that link or suggests that it is being exaggerated must therefore be a front for the tobacco industry. No reasonable person – acting of their own accord – would challenge this undebatable science.

Yet, research is ignored. Falsified. Construed.

There is a U.S. Federal Policy on Research Misconduct.

Research misconduct is defined as fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism in proposing, performing, or reviewing research, or in reporting research results.

  • Fabrication is making up data or results and recording or reporting them.
  • Falsification is manipulating research materials, equipment, or processes, or changing or omitting data or results such that the research is not accurately represented in the research record.3
  • Plagiarism is the appropriation of another person’s ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit.
  • Research misconduct does not include honest error or differences of opinion.

Why Are U.S. Health Officials Ignoring U.K. Colleagues about E-Cigs?

Findings of Research Misconduct

A finding of research misconduct requires that:

  • There be a significant departure from accepted practices of the relevant research community; and
  • The misconduct be committed intentionally, or knowingly, or recklessly; and
  • The allegation be proven by a preponderance of evidence.

Never.

They are men and women of the tobacco control cloth holding secret dances and parties you’re never going to be privy to. Governments turn a blind eye. There is no room for disagreement or challenge to those who otherwise would be brave enough to try, as Dr. Seigel pointed out above.

The Pope, Deacons, Preachers and choirboys and girls of the tobacco control church have worked hard to bring you a quality service.

Helping Smokers Quit

money6.jpg

Imagine a business you can operate at full capacity by providing a valuable product and “service” to millions of customers with no restraint on inventory, no liability and carry a “non” or “not for profit” status.

Imagine a business with no worries about profit or loss – and the money keeps coming in. As a bonus, you can carry this on for more than 50 years and brag about it.

Imagine a business that is funded by those you are trying supposed to help. Imagine if your business could get away with shaming your customers for failing with your product or service.

You could offer ineffective tips keeping your status as a caring and upstanding business in the community. Wouldn’t that be fun?

aca-dont-give-up

Supply & Demand

Imagine how failure on the customers part  creates opportunity for more business. Promoting almost useless products you don’t pay for is not only fun, but keeps you, and the supplier in business. They’ll keep coming back. You know the failure rate is 93%, and knowing why is not your concern.

Use the term “cessation” a lot because it sounds soothing. In contrast, I suggest focusing on something with at least three syllables so it is ominous and scary sounding – like nicotine – because it sounds evil.

Remember, you have no accountability or responsibility for success in the eye of the public. You just have to look like you’re trying.

  • Be realistic. Don’t talk about of tobacco control out of church.
  • As much as possible, try to influence policy as much as you can.
  • In fact, success would be detrimental to your survival, always elude to an exit strategy.

Keep Success To A Minimum

Imagine your success. Stay focused. Your success is paramount, not your customers. Customer success is of no concern. In fact, it’s widely acceptable to shame customers and convince them that their failure is not your responsiblity. Play on their desperation, not satisfaction. Ultimately, hold your customers accountable. Confuse and bewilder them. That’s the plan.

Feign support, but encourage. Make it perfectly clear that the customer is the problem, not your business. Convince them to keep trying.

cdc-keep-trying

Passive-Aggressive Is Best

Imagine your staying power. Make it clear that they are the problem, not your business. Place the failure on the consumer, and promote your business as if it has helped millions, helping you. Failure is not only acceptable, it is expected. Join other businesses like you to keep momentum.

Don’t Give Up

Imagine if smokers could succeed. Ignore and damn any methods that work, despite the evidence, as it would be detrimental to your survival. In fact, only support any other method if they are taxed, regulated and funded in such a way that will only contribute to your success.

Leave your ineffective products and services alone. At any cost including lies, use children (because who doesn’t like to Think About The Children™).

Convince the public via mass marketing that it is ultimately safer to keep smoking than to risk using any product not approved by you, or your affiliates.

Always seem concerned or challenged by any less harmful alternative.

Reminder

Remember, you must restrain yourself. Never, under any circumstances, talk about any effective alternatives that may risk your reputation or your business. Ever.

Imagine a business that would go bankrupt if it did what it was designed to do.

Help people stop smoking.

I won’t bore you with my usual (insert witty and thought-provoking editorial comment here) views on it all, so let us get straight to Vaping In The News:

Impugning

This week, much to my amusement, Tobacco Control BMJ finds itself in the hot seat when (it) wanted to assert take control. “They” decided to take some to task with this sad example of a scream test in their own echo chamber.

Blog fog? Using rapid response to advance science and promote debate

Like watching a train wreck, one co-author tweeted taunted this:

Then, as if “rapid” was another code word for “no”…it seems 2 days later, technical difficulties find their way to bad timing.

Still waiting……and duly noted:
“We intend to post all eLetters approved by the Editor within 7-14 days, which must contribute substantially to the topic however it is at our absolute discretion whether we publish and timeframes cannot be guaranteed.”

I was intrigued with an article written by Gary Wood here (with audio)

I wasn’t surprised with the quality of the article, having seen this a few days before:

Why Vaping is Safer in the UK than in the US

Keep that up, Mr. Wood, and thank you.

Tobacco Control: Losing Control.

bloody-hands-2

According to “them”, tobacco control has an end game. Lots of players in the game. Lots of rules. All to “end” tobacco. Lots of money. Careers. Longevity.

Lots and lots of funding, grants, – you know – money. Well, money doesn’t motivate anyone. Lack of money motivates, but I digress.

It seems “they” – or at least seven of them have decided they don’t like – well – stuff. Now, they’re making more rules throwing a tantrum! Hurray!

Tobacco. Widespread carnage. Millions of lives. Important stuff. What are they babbling about? They don’t like personal blogs impugning. Awww. What that means in the #KeepSmokingWeNeedTheMoney scream test is:

Tobacco CONtrol doesn’t like their authority control being challenged or questioned.

In the words of Steve Martin: Well excuuuuuuse me.

Tobacco control can’t do its job and hasn’t for years. They’re losing control. Tobacco CONtrol is, after all, a punchline.

I’m not that good to perceive myself as interrupting the good work tobacco control alleges they “do”. I can’t imagine the “blog fog” from the BMJ Tobacco Control does anything to advance anything other than more control. After all, who doesn’t like an “I love me” or an “I’m so important” wall?

“Recent comments posted on some personal blogs impugn the objectivity of Tobacco Control and its reviewers, questioning our motives and the veracity of peer review.”

Funny, one of the authors of the “Blog Fog” tweeted this:

I do love ProPublica, they do awesome work.

Sorry, got off track.

I have my suspicions as to who – and there are multiple suspects, the “blog fog” could have been about. More power to them. I won’t try to assess the whining or illusions these 7 are under… pretending to defend themselves against defending themselves, I’ll let the links below do that.

What I did take to heart, and you may as well, is “personal blogs impugn the objectivity” and “questioning our motives and the veracity of peer review” within. Ya think?

I care about the unreasonable denial of less harm with vaping products that are ignored BY tobacco control resulting in inadequate and bias “objectivity”.

Act like adults. What I care about less harm with “ecigs” and how quickly dismissive it is for those in charge – to be arsonists to the very thing that may take their livelihood away from them. E-cigarettes.

And that, to my hearts content, will be blogged about about until my fingers bleed.

The tweet below isn’t a co-author of the “blog fog”, but it reminds me of the same.

This was part of a scolding I received last fall from another CONTROL fanatic.

(If you like, you can see my take on Ruth Malone’s objectivity (like Hefler’s) in Alice In TobaccoLand here)

SEVEN people had to “take the time” to contribute to what someone has – evidently – been impugning. You, you opinionated impugners!

Top 10 “things” that piss me off about #ecigs.

tonguevapingits

You know what pisses me off aside from the obvious? A lot. I don’t like that. There’s nothing I can do about it, but it scorches my ass.

Certainly we all have pet peeves. Some things bother a few, a few things bother many, and this is my partial list.

There’s plenty more, but I’ve tried to narrow it down for time and space. If you’re not a regular reader, thanks for joining me. If I have to warn you about hurting your feelings or being offended, I just did.

Hydrate. Relax. It’s all in good fun. I hope you laugh, and then move on.

I know you’re excited, so here are my Top 10 “things” that piss me off about #ecigs.

#10. ENDS.

Your e-cigarette will NOT be referred to as an “Ends“. The “scientific” and “health” community likes to call them that. No. Because they’re idiots. They probably spent a million dollars in research to come up with that acronym because P.E.N.I.S. was taken.

penis

Please do not refer to your device, gear, rig, setup or e-cigarette as “ENDS”, unless you’re referring to it this way: Yes, that is  (pick any name – I call mine Martha)____, ___ “ends” my smoking.

#9. Journalists.

If you’re a public health expert, just go here

Journalists, I AM here to help.

Stop “describing an e-cig” to fill your word count. If you can’t figure out how to start an article without describing an e-cigarette for the first paragraph, adding in the children or other wibble quotes on the second, and repeating the same shit about the first two paragraphs for the remainder of the article, find another occupation.

zz

Do some investigative work. You know, your job. If you’re a “journalist”, get your balls from your significant other, bring them to your keyboard and grab the world by the scruff of the neck.

Bring your nose closer to the screen and find some research and science to write about. Instead of trying to kiss ass and pretend you’re right, try, and I know this sounds scary  – the truth.

Once that truth has slapped you upside your head, here’s a thought: Ask these people you quote what the health implications of deceiving the public will be. That should get you in to the big parties. Wear something nice.

#8. Everyone

(You too, Journalists)

Don’t refer to Stanton Glantz as a “scientist” or a Doctor.. He is neither. He wouldn’t know a beaker if he had one stuck up his ass.

He’s part of the reason smokers were freezing their ass off outside when they smoked.

He’s part of the Rotund Reaver Association.

He also needs to talk to the math department and take a class.

The other three goons- Capewell, Mckee and Chapman aren’t scientists, either.

#7. Smoking and OIL

People, your “e-juice” is not OIL. It is e-liquid. Happy juice if you must. It is not “oil”. I’ll accept e-juice, but cautiously. Only scientists, journalists and health “officials” can continue to say “oil” when referring to e-liquid.

oil

Don’t say “oil”. It separates us from those who drag their knuckles on the way to “work” and us common folk.

Vaping isn’t smoking.

Unless you use a pipe shaped vaping device, don’t get me started on “e-pipe”.

#6. Battery Safety

batteries2

If you’re going to continue to try to set yourselves ablaze, at least carry a bag of marshmallows with you at all times for your friends. For fucks sake. Stop trying to catch yourselves on fire.

If you DON’T want to stop yourselves from catching on fire and WANT to have your 15 minutes of fame – be productive and at least mention that you should’ve listened to CASAA’s advice to the news crews and the emergency crews who responded to your stupid ass lack of knowledge.

#5. “Marketing” to children

I don’t see this as much as I used to, but if you make your oil e-juice DAMMIT ~  e-liquid –  with cartoons plastered all over the bottle or are using copyrighted material, or intellectual property, you have no intellect and your juice is probably shit. Then you could be sued, and someone will take your property for stealing theirs.

Stop doing that. Vaping has enough problems looking legitimate without your half-assed dirty bath water. Oil. e-juice. Dammit. E-liquid! Irresponsible. It looks like you’re marketing to children whether you’re doing it or not. Change the label. Make your money. Be well.

PEOPLE, If it has cartoons on it, stop buying it.

#4. That’s Not Good Enough

I don’t CARE if you’re dual using or using a cig-a-like. I don’t CARE if you’re using a $400 mod or dripping or cloud blowing. Don’t dismiss anyone starting out, don’t dismiss or become a critic for the device someone else is using.

Everyone is different. They aren’t you. Some are not in the mood for your lecture – they already are on the same playing field using different equipment. They’ll “move up” if they like.

“You can smoke and vape. In fact, I encourage it. “Dual-use“.”

Some like the hassle-free convenience of cig-a-likes. Some like me, using an ego style battery and my little old CE4 – just want to not smoke. I’ve used an MVP, and I recently “inherited” an Istick 30 from my son. I like it, but carry my ego as well.

There’s a fine line between educating and berating. Kind of like this top 10 list.

Think of it this way: Imagine your Grandmother as SHE walked into a Vape Shop

Nicotine strength is next.

#3. Nicotine strength

Part I:

First, vape shops. Stop limiting nicotine strength with your product line. Remember who your first time customer is. If you have 0-9-12 but a customer would have succeeded with 14+ you’ve lost a customer. Sure, you sold them that bigass mod they were intimidated with and may never try again, but you’re paying bills. Stop that. Also look back up at #4.

Let Grandma feel comfortable. Stop scaring people.

Part II:

I know you’re living in a universe I left a few years ago, it’s nice to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there again. So, PEOPLE:

NICOTINE IS —>NOT ADDICTIVE<—

Stop saying that it is…

#SorryNotSorry I screamed at you.

Thank you.

#2. BE aware of the fight

If you are a vendor – are you a member of a trade organization?

If you are a consumer – are you a member of a consumer organization?

Is your shop a member of a trade organization? ASK THEM!

Links are all over this blog for those. No excuses.

Tell your friends. Tell your neighbors. Talk to your cat. Put a sign on your dog while you walk him. Talk to others walking their dogs. Everyone needs to know what the government is doing – or more appropriately, trying to keep us and others from having a choice.

#1. You’re not loud enough

Start knowing. If you don’t know, read. Ask questions. TALK to people. Be educated. If I don’t know something, I ask questions. Find valid sources for your questions about ANYTHING. Legislative, safety, ingredients, research, or other questions you have. Then get LOUDER.

#HR1136

Put up your dukes.

Don’t be shy.

Make some noise.

Get LOUDER.

Vaping In the News

news2

Depending on where you look and who’s got the narrative on e-cigarettes –  There is good, bad, and ugly. Every DAY, vaping is in the news. Every day, something is breaking.

In the spirit of and inspiration from my friends across the pond at Vapers.org.uk, this is a quick selection of what I’ve seen (good, bad and ugly) this past week with the obligatory op-ed above each one designed to inform, enlighten and enrage.

The Outstanding News

outstanding

If you don’t know about Cole-Bishop, you need to hydrate, educate yourself –  and waste no time:

“There is a legitimate role for tobacco regulations, but vaping is not a tobacco product.”

“Regulations should be based on evidence and the FDA doesn’t have the evidence to say that vaping is a harmful product.”

“There is a legitimate role the FDA plays for tobacco regulations, but e-cigarettes are not a tobacco product.”

Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) Discusses the Cole-Bishop Amendment with Nicopure Labs

The Good

news good.jpg

It’s an amazing thing when people take matters into their own hands when decisions they make have a direct impact on their lives. There is a continuous stream of light from consumers who have switched from smoking combustible tobacco and their journey with e-cigarettes. We, after all, are the experts.

Shining that light is a proactive effort to educate the public and smokers who may be thinking of switching to e-cigarettes.

A series of videos released by the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT) and New Nicotine Alliance (NNA) was released with personal stories from those who have made The Switch.

More on this from Diane Caruana at Vaping Post:

Short movies about vaping by the NNA and NCSCT

Next, another video released by CASAA with a no-nonsense tone explaining the obvious difference between combustible tobacco and e-cigarettes.

How they work, less harm, nicotine and more.

The Bad

news bad2.jpg

Click-Bait Trend

Click-bait is the staple of the media, and this a sparking example of controlling the flow of information by deleting comments.

You can read the sparkly tweet and have enough to decipher the stupidity, and to read the article would take you less than one minute. I’ve linked with a “do not link” url here so they get no traffic ranking from this blog. I’d venture to say if it weren’t for vapers, there wouldn’t be any traffic to some of these idiots.

Would you like fries with that?

The Mayo Clinic has released positive views about e-cigarettes here.

Now, they’ve caught the attention of who is, without question, impeccable. He maintains his class and style by adding condiments to an “unethical and misleading risk” sandwich to the Mayo Clinic.

I hope he sent them napkins.

Hold the Mayo

Idiot Of The Week

malpractice2

Because who doesn’t know how to describe “toxic exposure” better than Michael Cawley, PharmD, RRT, CPFT, FCCM:.

“Although controversy continues about the limited carcinogenic exposure of e-cigarettes compared to traditional tobacco products, a more alarming fact is the toxic exposure of liquid nicotine used by e-cigarettes.”

Sounds like it’s more alarming to vape than smoke, but if you’re not educated enough with all those letters after your name to find substantially reduced levels of measured carcinogens and toxins, DO some research. Even the American Association for Cancer Research knows better.

We already know that e-cigarettes are “not nearly” as alarming, but the way you put it,

Cawley goes on to insist at the end:

“In addition, potential drug interactions should also be discussed with patients since many do not consider liquid nicotine interacting with any prescribed medications. As pharmacists, we need to routinely include questions about the use of e-cigarettes in all our patients with a smoking history.”

I can’t stand linking it, but it is here:  Know the Toxins in E-Cigarettes

The Ugly

There was a “discussion paper” released in 2016 in Australia called:

Options to minimize the risks associated with the marketing and use of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) in Australia.”

discuss

Clive Bates covered it here.

One of the authors of that paper is none other than Simon Chapman. Now, he’s having a conversation on his article, “Twelve myths about e-cigarettes” The now retired professor wrote an article stuffed with his quit or die mantra, only this time there are responses including Cardiologist Konstantinos E Farsalinos.

Read the article (if you must), but GO to the bottom and hit “Show All Comments”. Turns out “the ugly”, with the help of Dr. Farsalinos and others within may just educate those in need the most: “experts“.

Twelve myths about e-cigarettes that failed to impress the TGA

The latest from me:

Exclusively on Vaping Media:

Rather than initiate dialogue or pursue evidence to present to consumers, U.S. officials are not mentioning it.

Why Are U.S. Health Officials Ignoring U.K. Colleagues about E-Cigs?

I wrote the President:

Dear President Trump:

I urge you to immediately order the Food and Drug Administration to cease and desist any and all activity involving “regulation” of e-cigarettes by classifying them “tobacco”.

Dear President Trump: Stop the F.D.A

Finally:

With more than 560 physicians surveyed, over 70% “indicated that e-cigs can help patients reduce or eliminate smoking” and “almost half believe they can reduce risk” according to a new survey by Andrew Nickels, M.D.

Doctors tell smokers: Switch to e-cigs
