Raising FUNDS for E-Cigarette Research

01

Dr. Farsalinos is well aware of this fundraiser. I’ll make this as brief as I can.

Think back to when you first looked for research on e-cigarettes. You were (and still are) finding glorified journalism and public health websites choosing to tell a fabricated story.

(I’ve covered that here)

At times, you’d find fiction.

In the world of e-cigarette research, one name stands out from the crowd. Dr. Farsalinos.

Dr. Farsalinos is a Cardiologist.

I We are raising money HERE  for Dr. Farsalinos and his team of researchers.

(Nicotine Addiction: An Open 30-Day Public Health Challenge)

Why did I choose his team?

Because I trust him and his team to tell me the truth about what they discover, regardless of what they find. They do this to relay proper and unbias information to the consumer, good or bad. Period.

He is providing us with information.

“Unbiased, reliable – full access” information.

We can’t expect him and his team to do his research for free.

I access and refer to his work constantly. SO do you.

He speaks around the 48-minute mark here:

Global Forum On Nicotine

So, to clarify, this GoFundMe fundraiser is about

  • Raising funds for Dr. Farsalinos and his team at ecigarette-research.org
  • Requesting Public Health, Anti-Tobacco, Tobacco Control and other professionals to provide documentation and prove “addiction to nicotine” with the criteria provided.
  • Proving or disproving the “addiction to nicotine” claim without tobacco or MAOI’s.

Why did I choose nicotine addiction as the subject?

Because powerful people in powerful positions have asserted themselves for decades by saying nicotine is addictive, and it raises awareness.

I painstakingly went through the criteria and sought advice from many I trust before submitting this challenge (and will blog about it about it once it’s over).

What happens to your donation?

If nicotine addiction is proven with the criteria:

Only 5% of the funds collected (minus fees) go to my most detested organization

👉  The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

The rest of the funds collected 95%  (minus fees)

If it unproven, unchallenged (expected), ignored or does not meet the criteria,

100% of the funds (minus fees) 👉

Here is why I say nicotine is not addictive:

Along with things like this, this and this  – there’s this:

If the data contradict the theory, throw out the data

Here is what Joe Gitchell said when I asked what he thought about the challenge:

If you want to have lives depending on “expert” opinions and hypothesis with the “we’re in control” offices of Glantz, Chapman, McKee, Malone and Capewell, be my guest.

We need further unbias, objective research without conflict of interest.

Donate, spread this around. Change the world.

I encourage you to tag and post it everywhere you know experts will see it. Make them think. Put them to the test. Ask them questions.

Give them the chance to answer the challenge on my blog.

The goal for this campaign is set at $25,000.00.

Sharing is caring. Go here and thank you in advance.

Nicotine Addiction: An Open 30-Day Public Health Challenge

nicotine

Foreword:

For decades, Public Health, Tobacco Control, and Government experts have agreed in unison, that nicotine is the addictive chemical in cigarettes with comparisons and statements that nicotine is as or more addictive than heroin.

This “Public Health Challenge” is to show scientific proof that the assertions of addiction are true.

I have decided to put (our) money where your assertions are by taking you, the health, tobacco control, science and research communities, to literal task on nicotine addiction.

This is a 30-day challenge for anyone in public health to show nicotine addiction in humans, without MAOI’S, ammonia, or any other non-nicotine additive or any form of tobacco, without question.

You don’t need to prove me wrong, you need to prove yourselves right.

That’s it.

Nicotine Addiction

An Open 30-Day Public Health Challenge:

Addiction to a habit-forming substance is defined by Merriam-Webster:

Medical Definition of addiction

  1. :  compulsive physiological need for and use of a habit-forming substance (as heroin, nicotine, or alcohol) characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal; broadly: persistent compulsive use of a substance known by the user to be physically, psychologically, or socially harmful [emphasis added.]

Criteria:

To show proof of nicotine addiction with existing clinical trials, case studies, data, and scientific documentation of addiction to nicotine alone, without any form of tobacco or Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI’S), ammonia, or any other non-nicotine additive, in humans.

Documentation submitted (either as a text file or in the form of a web link) must be accessible and not be behind a “paywall”.

Documentation:

Unacceptable documentation:

  • Animal studies (rats, mice, monkeys, etc.) are not acceptable.
  • Submissions not published in professional or scientific journals or government websites are not acceptable.
  • Anything inaccessible by the public, including “paywalls” via the internet, are not acceptable.
  • Oral presentations, press releases are not acceptable.
  • Existing clinical trials, case studies, data, in vitro studies, self-reported surveys and scientific documentation in humans that claim probabilities or hypothetical possibilities as they do not show nicotine “is” addictive and are not acceptable.
  • Existing clinical trials, case studies, data, in vitro studies, self-reported surveys, and scientific documentation cannot include words and phrases like “hand to mouth, dependent, habitual, ritualistic” or words like “can, conceivably, could, likely, may, might, perhaps, possible, possibly, possibility, probably, probability” and cannot include tobacco or MAOI’s, ammonia, or any other non-nicotine additive for this challenge.

Acceptable Documentation:

  • Documentation must be accessible to the public.
  • Documentation must show the acceptable definition of addiction in existing clinical trials, case studies, data, or science and include characteristics of addiction such as increased tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms of nicotine alone, in humans, without any form of tobacco or MAOI’s, ammonia, or any other non-nicotine additive.
  • Documentation showing addiction in clinical trials or case studies with 3% or 2 subjects, whichever is greater.
  • Documentation must include a clear description of methodologies and results.
  • Peer-reviewed submissions must include names and affiliations of reviewers.

Documentation submitted (either as a text file or in the form of a web link) must be accessible and not be behind a “paywall”.

Documentation submitted must also include proof of existence with at least three of the following compulsive use or behaviors identified and defined, such as:

  • Physical addiction
  • Loss of job
  • Erratic or deviant behavior
  • Decreased social activities
  • Increased tolerance of nicotine and use over time
  • Harm to the patient or others around them
  • Withdrawal symptoms, phases

Submission:

Documentation must be submitted to this blog publicly and directly in the comment section below.

Reward:

money6

If addiction to nicotine is proven according to the criteria above, 5% of the funds donated during this 30-day challenge (minus processing fees) will be donated to The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

The remaining 95% (if proven) will be donated as follows:

In the absence of or lack of documentation submitted per the criteria stated above, or if this Public Health Challenge is deemed uncontested, any and all funds donated during this 30-day challenge (minus processing fees) will go to ecigarette-research.org for further research by Dr. Farsalinos and his colleagues.

Professionals Just “Don’t Know Enough” About E-cigarettes

You’ve entered the “I’m tired of your bullshit” zone.

doctors4

The word “Bullshit” is commonly used to describe statements made by people more concerned with the response of the audience than in truth and accuracy… that’s found here.

Sound familiar?

To be clear:

Are you an expert?

expert.JPG

The degree you’ve worked so hard to attain needs to be used properly, not at your discretion. I know you are proud of your accomplishments and contributions to society for your vast knowledge.

I know you are the “go to” person in your prestigious department or institution of higher learning. I know you know everything and have an “I love me” wall to prove it.

I have been known to pass out extra points if your degree(s) hang higher on the wall than photos of your family. I offer a double bonus if the only photo(s) in your office are of you.

You’ve entered the “I’m tired of your bullshit” zone.

Breathe snowflake, breathe.

gif-stunned

I know many of you are truth-a-phobic. Let’s be honest, you’re not used to your integrity being questioned or spoken to in this manner.  I want to earn your respect.

If you recognize yourself in the above description and want to skip the formalities, I’ve covered the true experts here:

Is Public Health challenged about ecigs?

Still with me?

welcome.JPG

I’ll presume for time and space that you already know what combustible tobacco “is”. I’ll also presume you “know” what e-cigarettes ~are~.

Let’s move on.

Use that brain for something other than a hat rack. I know, you think nicotine is addictive. That, my dear expert is called “Proof by assertion“.

You can’t fathom some uneducated consumer can out-research you?

Think again.

The link (PDF) below covers all the important stuff you don’t know and more.

Nicotine. Children. Chemicals. Battery Safety. Research. Resources. Less harm.

Go ahead, click it:

When tobacco use decreases, less smoking occurs.

You know you want to. I’ll wait.

Let’s Talk About You

eyes

Pride and social status does impede one’s sense of intelligence. One of the hardest things to do is ask for help. Another is for one to admit they are wrong.

E-cigarettes. Think less harm. No combustion. Not smoking.

The pretentious attitude concerns me from those who’s job it is to know better. I know you know better. You know you know better.  The amateurish display of stupidity about e-cigarettes shall now come to a close.

If you don’t know enough, why are you babbling? I know, you’re a snowflake and feel too important to be chastised for your own stupidity.

For you who are professionals, this is a need to know basis. I’m trying to help.

Claiming expert status without being an expert makes you an idiot. Study all you can about that tweet or article you’re destined to write. Stop depending on your daily dose of information from your peers or media.

Pro-Tip: Stop surfing the internet in a drunken stupor to “find” information about e-cigarettes. When you google, the top five results are not always the correct results.

The words “we need more studies”, and we “don’t know enough” are unacceptable.

Become an expert, have some nerve, stick with that choice. People will continue to smoke based upon your opinion, make it count. Prepare for your big interview.

Millions of people have switched from smoking to e-cigarettes. Millions more are afraid to try, and instead rely on information from “reputable” sources.

Swallow your pride or display it proudly

pride.JPG

Please, put your big researcher panties on.

I’m trying to keep you from looking like an imbecile. (They do exist.) Don’t say you “don’t know enough” any longer.

I know you like data, so for reference, here are two examples of high profile tobacco control imbeciles here and here. (References for tobacco control and public health are available upon request).

Wibble Words & Phrases

If you insist on continuing your train wreck down the track, please  -use phrases like:

“I’m too lazy to do research”

“I’m afraid of what my peers will say if I speak out”

“But the CDC, FDA (or pick a lying organization) say”

Or, as seen below, wibble words will also suffice.

You are a professional, act like one.

research4

SEEK knowledge. Talk with other professionals.

Engage with consumers. LINKS are all over this blog.

Stop saying you “don’t know enough”.  Here’s a quick expert exercise:

Say “I don’t know enough” out loud to yourself.

Are you trying to impress or coerce. (That isn’t a question).

Think about how uneducated you sound.

Above all, stop trying to bullshit people.

America: Settling for less to reduce smoking.

smoking-image-yahoo-free-to-share-use

If you’re an American looking to reduce smoking, stop settling for less. Quickly step away from the paid advertisements from the pharmaceutical companies to fund the rigorous and glorified “fight” against tobacco by your friendly neighborhood cessation counselors.

Stop settling for less. Stop dialing quit lines, delete your “free” app. Stop paying attention  to a well organized bunch of morons.

Forget everything you’ve heard, learned and been told to ~swallow~ by anyone in authority. Stop feeding into their substandard propaganda.

The general public doesn’t seem to understand the battle waged by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), various public health organizations and other distinguished experts in anti-tobacco and tobacco control.

“They” evidently, don’t understand it themselves. They LOVE fake news.

They’re playing a game.

With your lives.

Don’t let them fool you, “They” do completely understand. If less tobacco use were the ONLY goal, they’d be pounding vaping products through brick walls to get people to stop smoking.

If they had balls, they’d be standing up and screaming at the idiots who are saying e-cigarettes are the same as smoking. They’re so busy fighting the tobacco companies – they forgot how to interact with real human beings.

They’re busy worrying about funding for their organizations. They’re too busy keeping tobacco in the forefront instead of letting it die a slow sun-baked death in the field by itself. Without a lot of work.

Wait, then they’d be out of work. “They” have become common criminals.

“They” have no incentive (funding, income, research grants etc.) to reduce tobacco, so they lie about things like nicotine. Formaldehyde. Popcorn Lung. They sit idly by and watch, make things up, and refuse to speak. They use fairy tales about children.

All the while, you’re still contemplating your decision to reduce or eliminate tobacco from your life, while they claim expertise.

They only know how to control. Yet, they’re out of control. They want you to believe the ineffective methods are the only way to reduce or eliminate tobacco –  for you, and – if you combine that with counseling, you’re sure to be one of the approximately 3-7% who succeed. If not, you haven’t been trying hard enough.

Why are you settling for less? Because “they” say so?

The public does not understand what they may be settling for when it comes to tobacco harm reduction in the United States.

Yet they still want to FIGHT against it….Here’s Mitch Zeller babbling in a relaxed and controlled atmosphereseems he’s confident in his words.

Here’s what you really need to know if you’re struggling with tobacco.

This, courtesy & via The Vaper is another way consumers, without professional ties to industry, are helping each other and smokers thinking of switching to a much less harmful alternative.

E-cig tips for smokers who want to switch

E-cigarettes were invented, & are continuously being improved, by companies that don’t sell cigarettes.

Although big tobacco companies now own or produce several types of basic e-cigarettes, the e-cigarettes sold by non-tobacco companies are far more satisfying and come in many delicious flavors.

Both Public Health England and the Royal College of Physicians have recommended that e-cigarettes be widely promoted to smokers – they estimate that e-cigarettes are at most 5% as dangerous as smoking.

The majority of the health benefits offered by e-cigarettes come down to the fact that e-cigarettes deliver nicotine in a vapor rather than as smoke. It is the smoke that makes smoking most harmful, like heavy smog or smoke from a house fire, tobacco smoke contains at least 60 carcinogenic chemicals. While carcinogens have been detected in some e-cigarette flavorings, it is typically at levels hundreds of times lower than in tobacco smoke.

There is no evidence that nicotine in low doses is dangerous, nor is there evidence that nicotine by itself (when not ingested as part of a combusted product like a cigarette) is carcinogenic. In fact, nicotine has been approved for sale to children 12 & older, over the counter, as nicotine patches and gum. Further, when separated from the complex mix of chemicals in tobacco smoke, nicotine has not proven nearly as addictive as cigarette smoke. Many people who use e-cigarettes gradually lower their nicotine concentration with no noticeable negative effects, and no cigarette craving.

E-cigarettes have already helped millions of smokers to stop smoking. A lot of their success comes down to the fact that they not only replace the nicotine of conventional cigarettes, but also the ‘action’ of smoking, which many ex-smokers using patches & gum miss and which leads to them relapsing to smoking. E-cigarette use by young smokers has caused smoking among youth to fall at an unprecedented rate.

For sensible advice & guidance when looking into buying an e-cigarette, trust mostly the advice from the following sources:

  • Experienced staff at a dedicated e-cigarette shop, or ‘vape’ shop as we call them. These folks are typically ex-smokers/current vapers themselves.
  • Other vapers who have given up smoking. Vapers commonly love helping other smokers to give up, and love sharing their experience to help them get a satisfying flavor & strength of e-liquid, as well a refillable, adjustable ‘vape pen’ or ‘mod’ to transform that e-liquid into the vapor to be inhaled.

Taking up vaping might seem a little daunting, so it’s helpful to use an experienced person to help you find the combination that works best for you. But once a new vaper has found that ‘sweet combination’ that works for them, it is simply the most enjoyable, easy & effective way to cease smoking.

Nothing is safer than breathing fresh mountain air, but if a smoker cannot give up cigarettes using more conventional methods or therapies, e-cigarettes might just be the thing that allows you to break the smoking habit completely, and permanently.

E-cigarettes: Healthier for you, no threat to bystanders at all.

Millions of us, like The Vaper and I, are not allowing you to “settle” for the same tired, drawn out processes the people in “control” would like you to endure. After all, it is mostly a made up game with players from every aspect of tobacco control. Here’s a bit about how your “addiction” came about via Rampant Antismoking:

“The antismoking bandwagon gained considerable momentum in the five years following the EPA report, prior to the Osteen ruling. Also important is that in the early 1990’s the pharmaceutical cartel and pharma-philanthropy (e.g., Robert Woods Johnson Foundation http://www.rwjf.org/pr/product.jsp?ia=143&id=14912) weighed into the circumstance.

The WHO formally partnered with the pharmaceutical cartel in antismoking (http://www.who.int/inf-pr-1999/en/pr99-04.html) Also, “The American Medical Association, Chicago, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), Princeton, N.J., planned, organized and conducted the 11th World Conference on Tobacco OR Health, which was held in August 2000.” – http://www.rwjf.org/programareas/resources/product.jsp?id=17719&pid=1141

Seizing the opportunity for the sale of essentially useless ‘nicotine replacement therapy’ (NRT) if smokers are progressively pressured to quit, the pharmaceutical interests provided more and more funding and momentum to the antismoking bandwagon. So, despite the Osteen ruling, by the late-1990’s antismoking had become a frenzy. Antismokers, through long-time corrupt conduct, dictated all proceedings and antismoking was awash with funding. The march continued towards fulfilling the Godber Blueprint.”

Wikipedia:

Proof by assertion, sometimes informally referred to as proof by repeated assertion, is an informal fallacy in which a proposition is repeatedly restated regardless of contradiction.[1] Sometimes, this may be repeated until challenges dry up, at which point it is asserted as fact due to its not being contradicted (argumentum ad nauseam).[2] In other cases, its repetition may be cited as evidence of its truth, in a variant of the appeal to authority or appeal to belief fallacies.[citation needed]

In its extreme form, it can also be a form of brainwashing.[1]

If the goal is “less harm”, take them to task, ask “them” why this is acceptable to “reduce harm”, yet vaping products are not.

Pie1.JPG

Take this to heart. If vaping products didn’t work, I would NOT tell you they do with a 79% success rate. Question EVERY “authority” placing doubt in your mind, and do not take “because we said so” as an excuse for them to be condescending because of your curiosity,  or allow them to question your integrity.

Question theirs, ask them why they haven’t educated themselves enough to be much more informative, why they would continue to embarrass themselves, and don’t settle for anything less. Hold them to their own “high standards”.

“They”, after all, are a business.
