Lobbying, restrictions, coordination, corruption, hysteria…  sounds like a coup to me.
“The anti-vaping push from public health organizations is coordinated, well-funded, and tied to powerful entities in government and corporate America. According to federal data, however, there is extremely limited evidence of any ‘epidemic’.”

Stevens Point leaders update e-cig ordinance

The article states city leaders voted across the board to “make it more difficult to get e-cigarettes in the hands of teens.“

Now – it’s a fifty-dollar fine and possibly a court appearance if a minor is caught with one. Among other anomalies in the article (my bold/underlining for emphasis):

“Officers in Stevens Point previously had to prove if the cigarette had nicotine in it but it wasn’t possible to test in the field.”

Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t mention fines or consequences for cigarettes or the Synar Amendment.

Tobacco products promoted on Facebook despite policies

Since the 1970’s, there has been a ban on the advertising of tobacco. In 1970, President Nixon signed a law called the Public Health Cigarette Smoking Act  – banning cigarette ads on T. V. and radio – beginning January 2nd of 1971. (Link). To get around it, media runs combustible tobacco images along side ‘anti-tobacco’ groups –  and has for years.

Side note: The US Government has been secretly recruiting underage smokers since 1992 at an acceptable “noncompliance rate of no more than 20%“.

On August 8, 2016, the United States legally defined and, on National Tobacco Day, “deemed” nicotine as tobacco. Without a doubt, advertising on social media of e-liquid is both self-promoted and promoted by consumers. The government, media and tobacco control continue to do both.

Because I like to tug on short hairs… I’m surprised the e-cigarette market is still legally able to advertise on social media (with the idiotic nicotine warning). While anarchy and mob rules may apply for some, I wonder – with legal definition – just how long advertising will be -ignored- (also federal tobacco taxes imposed) and how long it will take to try to knock it all down – if they could only do it without emotion.

I think the push has started.

I try to be as accurate as possible, and we all make mistakes. This is a pretty straigh-forward article. However, there is one exception where the author states “groups such as the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, which is funded by big tobacco through the 1998 tobacco settlement” (While (Matt Myers) invented it, they are not directly funded by the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement).

They do depend on “others” and  “rely on contributions from individuals, philanthropic foundations, corporations and other non-profit organizations” (indirectly) found at the bottom right here)

Deanna Marshall of Freedom Vapes has been fighting for a while… while I won’t get into that – I have watched a few posts and am intrigued at what I’ve seen.

The “Freedom Of Information Act” (FOIA) was used to obtain the following gems… and in my opinion, should be used on any and all – current and future litigation… (not an attorney).

“I did not expect how hard we had to work to stop an exemption for vape shops” should resonate into your brain…

Oh, and… in case you haven’t had your morning coffee…

Oh, relax there’s more…….. and imagine, if this is a local county…. can you IMAGINE the emails from CFTK/body parts orgs and government – on the national levels – if we could get them?

So, taxing “nicotine” because it is “deemed” tobacco is to recoup taxes on losses of the government(s) from slowing sales of tobacco – and of course, they didn’t plan on cigarette sales dropping like they have, as a result of their irresponsible fiscal greed and inability to budget downward and out of existence, they deemed nicotine & e-cigs, components and parts AS tobacco so they can tax them and oh, I’m just babbling now — anywhooo….

Altria wants to reduce taxes on tobacco because it’s “reduced risk” tobacco. So, yeah.

I. As in me. I could be wrong. It’s happened…. anyway… 22nd Century has been touted countless times by organized crime syndicates about how excited they are for “lowering nicotine” in cigarettes. The FDA has said it enough for me to become obsessed with the success or fate of this company. I don’t “care”, but have watched intently as the idiots think it could work for smokers wanting to quit… I thought it was a shoo in, at least for the FDA to keep saying it.

Finally – to wrap up Vaping In The News this week, the scream test continues… each time I see “prestigious” educational institutions denying funding… I get inquisitive…

Ellen J. MacKenzie, PhD, MSc, Dean of Bloomberg School of Public Health  – Johns Hopkins University joined ranks by choosing financing and funding of their research to continue with taxes from smoking as they released this joint statement.

Since the Master Settlement Agreement commenced in 1998, I can only conclude – according to the Johns Hopkins University website stating  “as a partner in a number of public health initiatives since its inception in 1998” that Dean MacKenzie (and the others signing) place funding via sales of tobacco via the MSA as ethical… but don’t trust themselves to do unbiased research despite the source of funding.
